I'm in my third year now in Environmental Sciences. And what do I want to do with my B.S. once I graduate? Become a librarian. Yes, I know it sounds completely random and unrelated, but that's my master plan. Right now I'm preparing for all those crazy grad school applications that I'll be sending in next fall. I began thinking about what kind of skills I have and what kind of jobs would complement my natural interests. I've thought about becoming a librarian dozens of times growing up but for some strange reason, I never took it seriously. But it popped back into my mind as I was contemplating all this. So I began to do some research and I also talked to a lot of family and friends. It's crazy because everyone I shared with gave me a lot of affirmation and encouragement about pursuing it! If there's anything you can get out of my strange journey I hope it's the comfort and reassurance that you don't always have to know what you want to do in the near future. And it's okay to change majors or even pursue a major that may not necessarily be related to your future career. You should enjoy what you're studying. But also seek after what you really love.

Since I go to high school, I have to walk a very far distance, it always takes me half an hour to reach the school. My father bought me a bike last week, he said it would save a lot of time. But the problem was that I didn’t know how to ride. I needed to learn ride the bike.
The first time when I rode the bike, I lost my balance quickly and nearly fell down, my father tried to keep my balance, so that I did not fell to the ground. After I tried for an hour, I started to know how to keep the balance and can rode for a few distance. Then my father stayed away from me and watched me. Without my father’s protection, I scared, but I needed to learn by myself. I fell down many times, but I finally could ride.

Think of the weirdest creatures you’ve even seen in a sci-fi film. Now think of this: there are far stranger, albeit smaller, critters living in your own home. And Rob Dunn at North Carolina State University wants you to go on safari to find them.
Research has been done on the diversity of bacteria, fungi and other organisms that live on our skin, in our guts, even in our belly buttons.
But there are other entire ecosystems that surround us. And scientists want to understand how they differ based on how and where we live. What’s the tiny life like on a doorframe in Brooklyn compared with that in Des Moines? Or how do fridge microbes of an urban singleton stack up with those of a suburban family?
The research team seeks ten volunteers from each state, five urban and five rural. Each volunteer will get a kit of vials and swabs, along with instructions about where and how to swipe – such as door frames, couch cushions, refrigerators, even yourself. The samples will be analyzed, to uncover the secrets of our microscopic companions. To find out more, go to robdunnlab.com
