Heavy Schoolwork
In my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to high school students is too heavy. While it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults.
High should be allowed more time for play. Plying is not wasting time, as some think. It gives them physical exercise, and also exercise their imagination. Which tends to be stifled by too much study. Finally, the pressure put on high school students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally. I do not advocate the elimination of schoolwork.
I do think, however, that a reduction of the current heavy load would be beneficial to students and to the society as a whole.
Most children will complain about their parents, because parents can't satisfy all the things they want. When they grow up, they will sense their parents' love. For example, our mothers always cook different kinds of delicious food, just want to let us eat more.
Our fathers work so hard to earn more money, so that they can make us live the comfortable life. We should be grateful to them.

Nowadays, people in China are increasingly in-terested in celebrating foreign festivals, especially those western festivals.
Some people say celebrating Christmas or Valen-tine's Day is just another way of recreation, nothing seri-ous.
Other people consider it as a fashion act showing they are not "out”,and they also think western culture reveals much romance.
The arising of celebrating foreign festivals clearly has something to do with the advancement of China's economy.
In my point of view,Christmas and other festivals celebrated in China have much difference from the origin. They have lost their religious background and turned into just a big occasion to have fun and enjoy life.
In conclusion,I think it's all right to receive some foreign cultures, but we should not ignore our own traditional festivals.
When I was a little girl, I found love in a box all beLove in a Box cause of a class assignment. On a Friday night I made an announcement at the dinner table. The words bubbled out in a torrent of excitement I could no longer contain. “My teacher said we have to bring a box for our valentines on Monday. But it has to be a special box, all decorated.”
Mother said, “We’ll see,” and she continued eating.
I wilted faster than a flower with no water. What did “We’ll see” mean? I had to have that box or there would be no valentines for me. My second grade Valentine’s Day would be a disaster. Maybe they didn’t love me enough to help me with my project.
All day Saturday I waited, and I worried, but there was no mention of a valentine box. Sunday arrived, and my concern increased, but I knew an inquiry about the box might trigger anger and loud voices. I kept an anxious eye on both my parents all day. In 1947, in my house, children only asked once. More than that invited punitive measures.
Late Sunday afternoon, my father called me into our apartment’s tiny kitchen. The table was covered with an assortment of white crepe paper, red construction paper, and bits and pieces of lace and ribbon from my mother’s sewing basket. An empty shoebox rested on top of the paper. Relief flooded through me when Daddy said, “Let’s get started on your project.”
In the next hour my father transformed the empty shoebox into a valentine box I would never forget. Crepe paper covered the ugly cardboard. My father fashioned a wrinkled piece of the pliable paper and glued it around the middle. He cut a slot in the lid and covered it with more of the white paper. Next came red hearts attached in what I considered all the right places. He hummed a tune while he worked, and I kneeled on my chair witnessing the magical conversion of the shoebox and handing him the glue when he needed it. When he finished, my father’s eyes sparkled, and a smile stretched across his thin face. “What do you think of that?”
My answer was a hug and a “Thank you, Daddy.”

Dear schoolmates,
As I am graduating, I'd like to write this letter to express my feelings before leaving school. Looking back to the past three years, I find that I have become more mature. I have been aware of the importance of learning knowledge, which is beneficial to my future. What impressed me a lot is the help that my teachers and parents offered when I was in trouble, which supported me during the period. Moreover, I regretted that I didn't work harder. From time to time, facing the pressure, I quarreled with my parents, about which I feel sorry and regretful. To live up to my parents' expectation, I will make my effort to work harder in university. It is no doubt that there will be many challenges waiting for me. However, no matter how difficult it is, I will spare no effort to overcome it.

When it comes to the suggestion that I can give to you, I hold the belief that in no case should you set aside the study. So far as I'm concerned, it is the determination of working hard that makes you succeed. I wish all of you would realize your dreams.

It’s Never Too Late
Several years ago, while attending a communications course, I experienced a most unusual process。 The instructor asked us to list anything in our past that we felt ashamed of, guilty about, regretted, or incomplete about。 The next week he invited participants to read their lists aloud。 This seemed like a very private process, but there's always some brave soul in the crowd who will volunteer。 As people read their lists, mine grew longer。 After three weeks, I had 101 items on my list。 The instructor then suggested that we find ways to make amends, apologize to people, or take some action to right any wrongdoing。 I was seriously wondering how this could ever improve my communications, having visions of alienating just about everyone from my life。
The next week, the man next to me raised his hand and volunteered this story:
"While XXX my list, I remembered an incident from high school。 I grew up in a small town in Iowa。 There was a sheriff in town that none of us kids liked。 One night, my two buddies and I decided to play a trick on Sheriff Brown。 After drinking a few beers, we found a can of red paint, climbed the tall water tank in the middle of town, and wrote, on the tank, in bright red letters: Sheriff Brown is an s。o。b。 The next day, the town arose to see our glorious sign。 Within two hours, Sheriff Brown had my two pals and me in his office。 My friends confessed and I lied, denying the truth。 No one ever found out。
"Nearly 20 years later, Sheriff Brown's name appears on my list。 I didn't even know if he was still alive。 Last weekend, I dialed information in my hometown back in Iowa。 Sure enough, there was a Roger Brown still listed。 I dialed his number。 After a few rings, I heard: `Hello?' I said: `Sheriff Brown?’ Pause。 `Yup! `Well, this is Jimmy Calkins。 And I want you to know that I did it。’ Pause。 `I knew it!’ he yelled back。 We had a good laugh and a lively discussion。 His closing words were: `Jimmy, I always felt badly for you because your buddies got it off their chest, and I knew you were carrying it around all these years。 I want to thank you for calling me for your sake!"
Jimmy inspired me to clear up all 101 items on my list。 It took me almost two years, but became the springboard and true inspiration for my career as a conflict mediator。 No matter how difficult the conflict, crisis or situation, I always remember that it's never too late to clear up the past and begin resolution。
Last Sunday, my mother and I went to a park on foot。 At first, both my mother and I were very happy。 But I became unhappy and angry after I found there was some litter lying on the grass。 At the same time, I saw a man throwing a plastic bag on the road。At once, I told him to pick it up, but the man did nothing after he had heard what I said just now。 It made me even angrier。 I picked it up and threw it into a dustbin。
After I went home, I thought it for a long time。 I think people mustn’t throw about in public places。 We should do something useful to improve the environment。 Because the environment is one of the factors which can decide how long we can live in the world。 So to protect the environment is just to help ourselves。
What is also noticeable is that staying up late can bring about mental stress. Since your work efficiency is lower, you probably doubt yourself whether you are a capable person or not. You may think you are not so smart as others and even fear yourself that you can hardly get a good grade in your psychology examination, which makes you feel more anxious and upset. Besides, if you frequently stay up late, you definitely look tired and in low spirits. Therefore, when working on a group project, maybe nobody wants to be in the same group with you, a low-efficient and anxious person. Thus, you will feel separated from others, which possibly makes you more stressed and upset.
In conclusion, although we have a lot of work to do and various activities to participate in, staying up late is by no means a good choice for us. It badly impacts on our physical health, lowers our work efficiency and makes us stressed and anxious. Faced with too much work, we should make good arrangements in advance and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
