behind every great achievement in anyone's life lies perseverance. we see this in every human endeavour. outstanding sportsmen spend all their time practising. their endurance is beyond imagination.
the same is true of businessmen who build up fortunes. what we usually see are their achievements, but once we go behind the scenes we will find that they have put in a lot of continual steady efforts. we all have read of great musicians, writers and inventors who have created or discovered breakthroughs in human achievement. invariably they have said that they owe all their success to perseverance. as to college students, quite a big number of then, have become successful language learners through perseverance, however, a certain group of then, just stop half way and their previous efforts turn out to be fruitless.

堅(jiān)持的英語作文 篇12
In the Orient1 young bulls are tested for the fight arena in a certain manner. Each is brought to the ring and allowed to attack a picador who pricks them with a lance. The bravery of each bull is then rated with care according to the number of times he demonstrates his willingneto charge in spite of the sting of the blade. Henceforth will I recognize that each day I am tested by life in like manner. If I persist, if I continue to try, if I continue to charge forward, I will succeed. I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious2. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse3 of failure is not my destiny. The prizes of life are at the end of each journey, not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to know how many steps are necessary in order to reach my goal. Failure I may still encounter at the thousandth step, yet succehides behind the next bend in the road. Never will I know how close it lies unleI turn the corner. Always will I take another step. If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult. Henceforth, I will consider each day's effort as but one blow of my blade against a mighty oak. The first blow may cause not a tremor in the wood, nor the second, nor the third. Each blow, of itself, may be trifling, and seem of no consequence. Yet from childish swipes the oak will eventually tumble. So it will be with my efforts of today. I will be likened to the rain drop which washes away the mountain; the ant who devours a tiger; the star which brightens the earth; the slave who builds a pyramid. I will build my castle one brick at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking。
堅(jiān)持的英語作文 篇13
Olympic Games hold every four years and I like to watch the matches so much. People always pay much attention to the champions, while for me, the inspiring players are easier to catch my attention. Though some players do not get the prize, they deserve applause as the champions have. I remembered that in the Beijing Olympics, in women’s 100-meter-race, a girl looked different from other athletes, because she worn scarf and was from Afghanistan.
She lagged much behind other athletes, but she still got the intense applause. She showed to the world that Afghan women could join this big event. Her insistence helped her to come to the world stage.
堅(jiān)持的英語作文 篇14
People always say that if you want to be successful, then you need to never give up. I agree with it. The power of insistence is infinite. It can bring us to our destination. I have made up my mind to finish the task in the planned time. At the beginning, I would write my homework once I got home and I finished it quickly without other’s interruption.
But sometimes my friends came to my house and asked me to join the activity, and I would say yes without hesitation. When I got home was almost ten o’clock, all I wanted to do was to sleep, but thinking about the homework, then I decided to finish it and refused to leave them another day. Today’s thing should be done in today. That’s my faith. My insistence helps me to be an excellent student.

堅(jiān)持的英語作文 篇18
As is vividly depicted by the drawing above, a boy is sleeping soundly① and comfortably in the sofa, with the television on, when his mother comes and turns off the television for him, blaming the boy for not having turned off the television again②.
This phenomenon can easily be found anywhere in our daily life. Many people are used to doing③ everything with the television on, not actually watching it at all. Such a habit can cause waste of much electricity and energy, and result in the emission of carbon. This deviates from the popular concept of “l(fā)ow carbon life” — to reduce the emission of carbon, especially carbon dioxide, to protect our environment and realize sustainable development. According to statistics, if we can decrease the time for having the television on by one hour each day, we can deduce the amount of carbon emission by 4.71 kilogram each month.
To serve as responsible stewards of the planet④, we must promote and popularize a low carbon life among the public from every detail in our daily life. We must change the past practice of sacrificing long-term environmental health for short-term rapid economic development, and shift to developing green economy, circular economy and low carbon economy. All these effective measures can help us to reach harmony between development of the society and health of the nature.
