Nowadays, students attach less importance to the spelling of words in the process of English study. This phenomenon greatly influences students writing and brings on worries among teachers.
There are possibly three reasons contributing to this phenomenon. First, exam-oriented education makes the students pay less attention to spelling. Second, some teachers should also be responsible for it because they dont emphasize the importance of spelling during teaching. Last but not least, some students are too lazy to recite words.
Since spelling is one of the most important factors in English study, due attention should be given to it. As for me, I think, first, exams should be modified to add some factors into it, which would help students pay more attention to spelling. Then, schools should also set effective mechanisms to help teachers as well as the students to realize the importance. Finally, for students themselves, they can, through other ways, make them be interested in word spelling. Only by these can we surly realize the importance of spelling and make improvement.

Some people think when we read we should read selectively. That is to say, we should select some books we are interested in and ignore the others. Reading selectively can help us concentrate our limited time and attention on those selected books.
Others think we should read extensively. No matter what kind of book it is, we should look it over. We should read various kinds of books, whether we are interested in them or not. They maintain that reading extensively can help to enlarge our view and grasp the general knowledge in different fields.
In my opinion, the two reading ways have their roles respectively in our reading. However, the disadvantages of each methods are easy to see. If we only read the books we select or prefer, the framework of our knowledge may not be complete. Our knowledge would be rather limited. And if we read without selection, we may not have so much time and energy to be specialized in one particular field. Therefore, the combination of the two methods is more reasonable.

Should cars be allowed into College Campus?
With the rapid development of our national economy, private cars have become in large number; of course, quite a few cars are heavily driven into College Campus.
In a significant way, these cars do not take up students places for study, but actually affect their daily life and study-- for instance, this crowd of cars may make noise and emit filthy gas to choke us to death. And the campus is jammed with lines of cars and seems to be parking lot instead of an academic institute. So cars have been strictly prohibited into many College Campuses. It seems that this is not convenience to some persons, indeed, but this is for the sake of our safety. Thus when someone enjoys convenience from modern tools, dont forget that it is dangerous to the students in the College Campus. Therefore, I agree that cars are not allowed into College Campus.
By and large, with the price of cars falling significantly, cars will enter average families, and most Chinese will enjoy a luxurious lifestyle in their life. However, they are still prohibited to drive their cars into College Campus, which , I think, is a hard truth in the eyes of most people.

Do high grades imply excellent ability? Opinions vary from person to person.
Some agree that high grades reflect high intelligence and are thus indicative of one’s ability. Students who do well in exams are therefore always favored in class. Others hold that grades have little to do with one’s ability. They point out that some students who do not work well in school may also make great achievements. They take Edison for example, saying that Edison was considered not clever by his primary school teacher, but became a very famous inventor later.
In my view, grades are important for us students. When people have no other ways to assess our ability, they can decide whether we are qualified for a school place or a position only from our grades. Therefore, we must try to achieve high grades in school, even though they are not the only standard for our ability.

Will Tourism Bring Harm to the Environment?
In recent years, China has witnessed rapid growth in tourism. Many are concerned that too much tourism may cause grave harm to the environment. And I can’t too agree to their view.
There are many ways in which tourism brings about bad effects to the environment. One of the examples is that in order to attract tourists, large patches of woods were eliminated to build accommodation facilities as well as artificial scenic spots, this unavoidably destroys the natural beauty of the scenic spots. Worse still, it breaks the ecological balance of these areas, resulting in the shortage of farm land, water and animals. Moreover, with large numbers of tourists flooding into the scenic spots every year, they have produced all kinds of garbage everywhere, placing much pressure on environment protection. All in all, too much tourism brings harm to the environment in many ways. So it is unwise to sacrifice the environment for the unreasonably rapid growth of tourism, and there should be a balance between tourism development and environment protection.

Throughout most of the 20th century, a high school diploma was usually enough to assure a job . In fact, many large companies operated their own internal training and development programs for recent high school graduates.
Recent changes in the global job market have put an end to those traditions. Very few people experience the stability of working for only one or two employers throughout their careers. In fact, most workers entering their first job today will change career paths at least seven times before they reach retirement age.

With the development of the society, more and more people enroll in the postgraduate examination for getting a high diploma. It is believed that high diploma equals to high ability and profound knowledge.
Most companies are inclined to hire the people with high diploma. It seems that having high diploma means a better future.
However, is it really true that high diploma equals to high ability or profound knowledge? Some people do not agree on this kind of idea. They claim that ability or knowledge means more than diploma.
Take Bill Gates, the head of the Microsoft, for example, he does not have a MBA degree which is believed to play a vital role in the success in commercial life. Furthermore, Sam Walton of Wal---Mart Stores Inc. does not a MBA degree, but they are the most successful man in commercial.
In my opinion, diploma does not equal to knowledge.
A diploma is a piece of paper which establishes your education degree. But your true ability and the real knowledge come from your hard work and endowment. If you got a diploma by dishonest behavior, no matter how high a diploma it is, it were just a piece of paper, and you were as blank as that paper.

Recently, the living condition of some college students is frequently referred to as “dwelling-narrowness”. In fact, this embarrassing situation is very serious that few of us can fail to meditate on the causes of it.
In the first place, it‘s difficult for graduates to bear the high cost of life in big cities. Poor payment thus gives rise to bad living conditions. Next, college students are more ambitious. Many of them are eager to compete in big cities like Shanghai and Beijing, where talents are abundant and positions are limited. Refusing to go back hometown let them suffer in big cities, which indirectly make their situation worse.
Generally speaking, college students should be more qualified to better themselves and adjust their goals according to the reality.

For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a position on the topic: Living alone or Living with Roommates? You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese.
Living alone or Living with Roommates
Nowadays, there has appeared a heated discussion among the college students as to whether they should live alone outside the campus or live together with other roommates in the students’ dormitory. Opinions are divided over the matter. Those who are in favor of Living alone maintain that it is very convenient to live by themselves. They can enjoy absolute freedom in a room of their own. They can have their own timetable without disturbing others. They are also free to equip the room with a personal puter so that they can have easy access to the Internet. But others argue that living with roommates has attractions of its own. With several students sharing the same room, each person’s experiences can be greatly enriched. They can learn a lot from talking to one another. By learning to tolerate the differences between individuals, they can bee more mature. As far as I’m concerned, I prefer to live with roommates because I love the feeling of belonging. Besides, it is a lot cheaper to live in a dorm than to rent an apartment outside the campus.

If anyone wants to find a job, he or she will have to go through a job interview, which is advantageous to both the interviewer and the interviewee.
In a job interview, the interviewer usually offers detailed information about the job under discussion, such as the nature of the job, the working condition and the payment for the job etc. This may help the interviewee decide whether he really wants the job or not.
