across和cross相似詞語辨析

　　cross除作動詞外，亦可作名詞。作名詞時，有較強的構(gòu)詞能力，它所構(gòu)成的'詞的某些詞義和用法是值得注意的。例如crossroad是交叉路或橫馬路，而crossroads卻是十字路或十字路口，它的前面可以用a，但-s不能丟掉。如：

　　The accident took place at a crossroads.

　　車禍發(fā)生在十字路口。
