中國從1985年6月5日開始舉辦紀念世界環(huán)境日的活動，以“青年人口，環(huán)境”為主題 。自此之后，每年的6月5日全國各地都要舉辦紀念活動。1993年北京被選為舉辦慶�；顒拥某鞘校渲黝}是“打破貧窮與環(huán)境的怪圈”。2014年4月修訂公布的《中華人民共和國環(huán)境保護法》第十二條：每年6月5日為環(huán)境日。
