Mr. Ren was admitted in 1986 at 14 years of age into the SPECIAL CLASS for the GIFTED YOUTHS, my university s unique program that caters to the intellectual needs of unusually talented Chinese youngsters. It was a rare privilege he earned with his nearly impeccable academic performance through the years of his elementary
and secondary school.
He impressed me almost as he entered into my university, a major cradle of china s scientific and technological talents. At the time, members of the Gifted Class all had to spend half a month studying by themselves the principles of calculus and then take an exam so that we could evaluate their self-study capability. Mr. Ren scored the highest grade in that exam. He also exhibited a keenly whetted mind during class discussions. To my regret at the time, his English was not as good as his mathematics or physics. But I noticed he made a point of working especially hard in improving his English during his five undergraduate years with us. By now, he seems to be at least as proficient in English as most of his former classmates in the Gifted Class.
In my experience with Mr. Ren, I was impressed with not only his extraordinary intelligence but also his ambitions and persistence. I am sure that Mr. Ren will be an outstanding student in any doctoral program that he may care to enroll in. 準(zhǔn)備推薦信時(shí)要注意兩個(gè)“一定”：
1、美國(guó)研究生推薦信：推薦人一定要合理選擇
因?yàn)橥扑]人應(yīng)該是在申請(qǐng)者素質(zhì)發(fā)展的幾個(gè)方面最有發(fā)言權(quán)的典型人物。如很多學(xué)生在申請(qǐng)MASTER時(shí)會(huì)選擇在自己的專(zhuān)業(yè)方向上最權(quán)威的教授來(lái)寫(xiě) 推薦信，但是對(duì)于那些成績(jī)平平的申請(qǐng)者，沒(méi)有這方面的交際，無(wú)法請(qǐng)所謂的“牛人”來(lái)幫助自己，在這里建議申請(qǐng)者可以多采取主動(dòng)攻勢(shì)，如果有機(jī)會(huì)參加研討活 動(dòng)或大型會(huì)議等等專(zhuān)業(yè)社交活動(dòng)，創(chuàng)造機(jī)會(huì)多結(jié)識(shí)一些專(zhuān)業(yè)人士，和他們談?wù)勊麄冏约旱膶?zhuān)業(yè)和深度，會(huì)有非常大的幫助。

找?guī)讉�(gè)推薦人寫(xiě)推薦信要根據(jù)大學(xué)的要求。有的大學(xué)要求學(xué)生找兩個(gè)推薦人寫(xiě)推薦信，有的大學(xué)要求學(xué)生提供三個(gè)不同推薦人寫(xiě)的推薦信。一般要求學(xué)生聯(lián)系三個(gè)推薦人。
美國(guó)研究生申請(qǐng)推薦信怎么提交？有什么具體要求？
推薦信的提交方式要根據(jù)大學(xué)的要求。有的大學(xué)規(guī)定郵寄推薦信和網(wǎng)上提交推薦信都可以，兩種方式選擇其一。有的學(xué)校強(qiáng)烈建議選擇網(wǎng)上提交，也就是online方式。
如果學(xué)生選擇郵寄推薦信，需要把推薦信打印出N份(要申請(qǐng)多少所學(xué)校就要至少準(zhǔn)備多少份，最好再多準(zhǔn)備幾份備用)，然后每份推薦信都要讓老師簽字。另外大學(xué)多數(shù)在網(wǎng)站上都提供推薦信表格，每個(gè)學(xué)校的推薦信表格版本不同，一般在網(wǎng)申的時(shí)候就可以下載到。學(xué)生要把推薦信表格下載下來(lái)，表格的上部分是學(xué)生的個(gè)人信息，由學(xué)生個(gè)人填寫(xiě)好，一般要求簽字和寫(xiě)日期。之后，把表格交給老師，推薦信表格的下半部分是老師對(duì)學(xué)生的評(píng)價(jià)。老師填寫(xiě)完，一般也要簽字和寫(xiě)日期。之后，把簽過(guò)字的推薦信和推薦信表格裝到信封中，把信封封好，信封封口處簽字。這樣一份推薦信就準(zhǔn)備好了。 如果選擇online提交，學(xué)生需要提前跟推薦人打好招呼，讓推薦人提供一個(gè)經(jīng)常用的郵箱。一般情況下，如果推薦人是老師，最好提供他的工作郵箱。郵箱千萬(wàn)不能拼寫(xiě)錯(cuò)，這很重要，否則就會(huì)影響推薦信的提交。之后學(xué)生在填寫(xiě)網(wǎng)上申請(qǐng)表的時(shí)候，有專(zhuān)門(mén)填寫(xiě)推薦人信息的欄目，包括推薦人的電話、地址、郵箱等。有的學(xué)校會(huì)問(wèn)推薦人是否選擇online提交，選擇“是”就可以了。如果選擇“否”，就需要郵寄提交了。推薦人會(huì)在學(xué)生填表后收到大學(xué)發(fā)來(lái)的郵件，包含了網(wǎng)址鏈接和登陸密碼。老師根據(jù)登陸密碼上到特定的網(wǎng)址在線填寫(xiě)推薦信并直接在網(wǎng)上提交。選擇online推薦，就不需要再郵寄簽字的推薦信，也不需要再郵寄推薦信表格。
