C Different parts of a sentence
A sentence can be divided into different parts.
1. Subject(主語):一般由名詞(相當(dāng)于名詞的詞、短語或從句)、代詞等充當(dāng)。在主動(dòng)語態(tài)中,表示“誰或什么”做出動(dòng)作,主語是動(dòng)作的執(zhí)行者;在被動(dòng)語態(tài)中,表示“誰或什么”受到動(dòng)作的影響,主語是動(dòng)作的承受者。
e.g. Sandy has bought a Hello Kitty purse for Millie.
We want children to be healthier.
This song was written by Jay Zhou.
2. Predicate(謂語):一般位于主語之后,由動(dòng)詞或動(dòng)詞短語構(gòu)成,說明主語“做什么,是什么或怎么樣”。謂語和主語在“人稱”和“數(shù)”兩方面必須一致。
e.g. Many people donated to Project Hope.
Millie is reading an article about the 12 star signs.
3. Predicative(表語):說明主語的性質(zhì)、特征、身份等,一般由名詞、形容詞、介詞短語等充當(dāng)。
e.g. Paul is generous and very imaginative.
His cousin is a driver.
They were at home last night.
4. Object(direct or indirect) 賓語(直接賓語或間接賓語):一般位于及物動(dòng)詞之后,表示動(dòng)作、行為的對(duì)象。由名詞、代詞等充當(dāng),和及物動(dòng)詞一起說明主語做什么。賓語又可分為直接賓語和間接賓語,直接賓語指“物”,間接賓語指“人”。
e.g. My sister answered the phone.
Peter has learned to speak English.
They will give him a football.

5. Attributive(定語): 用來修飾名詞或代詞,起限定作用,通常由形容詞、代詞、數(shù)詞、名詞、介詞短語、從句等來表示。
e.g. It was a rainy, windy day.
Is there anything important to discuss at the meeting? 會(huì)上有什么重要事情討論嗎?
It’s a cotton shirt.
6. Adverbial(狀語):用來修飾動(dòng)詞、形容詞或副詞,一般表示行為發(fā)生的時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)、目的、方式、程度等,通常由副詞、介詞短語、從句等來表示。
e.g. He left his hometown in 1977.
I met my friend on the bus yesterday.
He understands us very well.
Language points:
It is typical of Simon to make such a mess. (P9)
西蒙總是把東西弄得亂糟糟的。
typical 形容詞,“典型的,代表性的”
a typical Englishman 一個(gè)典型的英國人
It is typical of sb to do sth. . “做……是某人的特征”。
e.g. It is typical of him to forget his keys.
他總是忘記帶鑰匙。(忘帶鑰匙是他的特點(diǎn))
mess 名詞,“雜亂、紛亂”的意思
This room is in a mess. 這個(gè)房間很亂。
Integrated Skills
1. I will need to get lots of rest and eat healthy food if I am feeling weak. Otherwise, I might get sick. (P14) 如果感到虛弱,我就要充分休息并吃些有益健康的食品,否則,我可能會(huì)生病的。
otherwise 作連詞,是“否則、不然”的意思,相當(dāng)于“or”,只是比“or”正式。
e.g. Work hard, otherwise you’ll regret.
Put on your raincoat, otherwise you’ll get wet.
2. Remember to give it to the police. 要記得把它給警察。
remember 動(dòng)詞“記得”
remember to do sth 記得將要做某事

2. This means he is probably lively and clever. 這就意味著他可能既活潑又聰明。
probably 副詞,“很可能、大概”!∷N挥谛袨閯(dòng)詞之前,助動(dòng)詞、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞或聯(lián)系動(dòng)詞之后。
e.g. She will probably reach Shanghai tomorrow.

Main Task
1. Never forgets to do the things he needs to do. (他)從來不會(huì)忘記他需要做的事。
forget to do sth. 忘記將要做某事,表示動(dòng)作還沒有發(fā)生。
e.g. She forgot to clean the classroom yesterday.
forget doing sth. 忘記曾經(jīng)做過某事,表示動(dòng)作已在過去發(fā)生過。
e.g. I will never forget visiting the Great Wall.
2. Not afraid of making a speech in assembly. (他)不害怕在晨會(huì)上發(fā)言。
be afraid of sth /sb / doing sth. 害怕某事 / 某人 / 做某事
e.g. The girl is afraid of dogs.
They are afraid of going skating.
3. We are writing to recommend …… the Students’ Union.
write to do sth. 表示“寫信做某事”
