?

meat on an open fire outside.

the Ss. Teacher may begin with a question. )

T: OK. If we want to know something about a new student ,

what questions can you ask a new student?

( Ss may make many different suggestions in random order.

Teacher should collect their suggestions on the Bb. Then get the Ss

to change these reported questions into direct questions as

follows.)

Where do you live ?

Where school were you at last year?

Where did you go for your holidays?

Did you see any good films ?

Did you buy any new books?

(Then let the Ss open their books to look at Part 1on Page 3 and

begin to practise it in pairs . This is essential for a large class.

So that all the Ss can have great confidence in a later acting-out

of the dialogue.)

T: Open your books , turn to Page 3 and look at Part 1 . Now one

asks , one answers , then exchange your parts Please do it in pairs

.

(During the period , teacher should go down to the middle of the Ss

and check their practice . After a while , teacher can ask Ss to pay

attention to several sentences and give a brief introduction.)

T: Attention , please . I think most of them are not hard for you

,but some sentences , you may find , are not easy to understand .

For example,″Are you doing computer studies this term? ″″What are

you doing after school today ? ″In fact , this is a kind of

grammatical phenomenon-Present Continuous Tense for present time .

Although this tense is not a syllabus item , it is extremely common

in English . In the second part-Dialogue, ″I must be leaving now ″is

also the same usage .

( Bb: I must be leaving now.)

Step IV. Oral Practice and Consolidation

1.Teacher asks individual Ss some of the simple questions above and

Ss can give answers . Then let the whole class ask as many questions

as possible using the following sentences on the screen.

, Let Ss open their books , divide the class into two groups for

further practice , then exchange their parts , After a while , let

the Ss practise it in pairs , using their own names . At last ,

teacher asks some pairs to act out their dialogues in front of the

class. After doing all the things, teacher may go through the

different expressions for sending good wishes . Teacher may say as

follows:

good wishes , you should take care . ″Love ″should only be used for

family members or very close friends . Best wishes and regards are
